Geico Caveman Complaint

I absolutely love them. I believe the series of commercials is one of the best ever!

Geico Caveman- Debate continues

This is super short, but still classic as always..

Being Christian Is Not Cool

Saw an interesting article on "The Christian Post" about how being "cool" is contradictory to the Christian faith. The author of the book "Blessed are the Uncool" Paul Grant defines cool as an attitude, a habit, a worldview, a feeling. The modern cool is "the private performance of rebellion for rebellion's sake," he says, and Jesus is not necessarily cool.

"Being a Christian may not be cool, but it results in abundance," Grant states.

Check out the rest of the article "Uncool" and make sure you read his conclusion. It is powerful and so true.

Ninja or Samurai

I had a random thought this morning as I was in the shower. What would I rather be a Ninja or a Samurai? Yes, there is a difference between the two.

Ninja- an assassin or spy in Japanese culture, usually trained for stealth.

Samurai- a term for the military nobility in pre-industrial Japan. The word "samurai" literally means "to serve." A samurai is the servant of a lord.

So bascially the difference is that a Ninja is an assassin and a Samurai is an honorable military assassin.

So I ask you Ninja or Samurai?

Gaffigan's Great Moments- Part 1

Sanjaya Lives!

On last nights American Idol results show I was shocked once again. Sanjaya Malakar once again was not voted off. I am totally confused at this point. I mean is America watching a totally different show than me? his performance this week was equally as bad as last week and yet somehow he made it out of the bottom 3. It is obvious to me that he is this years "Chicken Little" if you watched the show last year you will get that comment.

OK America it is time to say "Goodbye" to Mr. Malakar. He is out of his league and needs to go "Home."

I Love Being Me

I was planning my upcoming sermon on the parable of The Vineyard Workers from Matthew 20:1-16. While in the book of Matthew I came across the passage that states "Love your neighbor as yourself." Then this got to me think, "Do I love my neighbor" I mean truly love them. After some thought my answer is "yes." Then that led to the question "Do I love myself?" This was a tougher question for me because I think there are plenty of times that I don't love myself. Isn't that a normal part of life to sometimes not love ourselves since we live in sin on a daily basis?

Ultimately, through some discussion, thought, and prayer I have come to two conclusions.

1. I must love myself in order to truly love others, especially students.

2. I love myself, and I Love Being Me.

Bridging The Gap

I had to share this amazing ministry that Route56 & Rock Point Church support. The ministry is called UNITE for Humanity. This ministry is involved with an orphanage in north-western Thailand. The awesome blessing is that many of the children are between the ages of 10-12 which is the age of our 5th & 6th grade students. This is cool because our students can support children their own age that live in poverty and can see tangible results of how their tithe/offering money blesses the lives of others.

As Carl Deese, states "We see that this country we live in is very blessed when it comes to acquiring resources, and we also realize that there are many people in the world who need some of these resources to survive. It sounds simple and it is; bridging the gap between the need and the resource."

Their ministry is about changing people's lives one by one. "It's about using what we have been given to bless others that are in need. "

Check out their website and see how God is working through this ministry.

American Idol Round of 12 Prediction

So, last week I made my predictions for eliminations and I only got one right. Now I am willing to concede that two of them could have went either way, but the fact that Sanjaya stayed is absolutely insane. Apparently, I was watching a different show than the rest of America. That leads me into my prediction for tonight's show.

Who is going home? Simple!

Sanjaya Malakar.

He is out of his league and his journey is over. But, to end on a positive note maybe he could be a hair model..

My favorite female contestant on this year's show is Melinda Doolittle.

She has been a backup singer, but she is beginning to shine as her own person. I think she is the judges current favorite female on the show, and who could not love her humble attitude. She is my favorite because she can sing, perform and most of all she loves Christ.

I checked out her page and saw some things that stood out to me:
  1. Question-What are your personal goals in life?

Answer-To represent Christ well and do everything 150%

  2. Question-Do you have any lucky charms?

    Answer-My Bible.

  3. Question-Do you have any rituals or things you do each time before you perform?

    Answer-Pray and warm up

  4. Question-If you win, who will you thank first?

    Answer-Jesus and my mommy.

Quote Of The Week

"Let's all dedicate something, and I like puppies."

As quoted by Simon Cowell on last night's American Idol show. The theme of the show was to dedicate your song to someone who has inspired you. If you watched the show there were a ton of funny moments and this was in my opinion the funniest. The guys did a good job last night can't wait to see the ladies tonight.
